The first episode starts off smoothly, as if though the show was in mid-season form. There are no first time jitters here from anyone. Former owner, Roni Taylor, talks about the concept for the LFC: a fighter that looks like a ring girl who can also fight. We get to know two new additions to the league, Michelle 'Scrapper' Blanchard and coach Arik Loegen. Blanchard, a two-sport athlete, is the prototypical LFC star. She is unapologetically attractive, athletic, and possesses more confidence than she needs. Loegen embodies the playful and inappropriate aspect of the LFC that sometimes forces its way into the program. The new hire seems inexperienced, obnoxious, and generally clueless.
Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden, the greatest LFC fighter ever, also appears. Hadden spars a little with Blanchard, who confirms that she is capable of transitioning from the gridiron into the octagon. Loegen wastes no time in showing the pink team that he really does not deserve to lead/train them. Tara 'Guillotine' Gaddy, who is Blanchard's first opponent at LFC 18: Lace vs. Leather in a match we see, worries that Loegen is lacking and not up to the task. Gaddy looks desperately undersized and surprisingly lost against the unrelenting Blanchard. Gaddy loses by guillotine, her own signature move. An unconscious Tara is no concern for Loegan, who has spent his time flirting with a ring girl that he eventually walks out of the cage with. The earliest episode is undeniably a classic take on the LFC.
LFC coach and trickster, Arik Loegen, tampers with the scale used for the official weigh-in. The fighters are left in disbelief when they realize that they now weigh 20 more pounds than before. His method of trying to motivate the women backfires. The pink team is in serious talks to go forward without a coach; a mutiny is barely avoided. Jody 'Conquering Angel' Connacher, his only ally, does her best to walk back her teammates. Of course, Jody receives extra, and at times indecent, attention from Arik.
The featured fight, part of LFC 18: Lace vs. Leather, is a non-title match between Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden and Connacher. Loegen is able to inspire Connacher to believe in herself and to look beyond her doubts and fear of facing the unbeaten Hadden. Watch, as the 'Conquering Angel' lives up to her nickname and surprises everyone, including herself and her coach, but especially the champion. Jody uses an anxiety fueled game plan that involves hitting and running. The tactic of avoiding an opponent is on full display. Hadden experiences both defeat and humiliation for the first and only time.
In this episode we welcome Serina 'Honey Punch' Kyle and future LFC Prez, Maxine 'The Boss' Frost, into the fold. This early rivalry is the show's featured match from LFC 19: Hadden vs. Mei. This episode also gives fans their first glimpse of coach Joel Kane, the most eccentric of trainers, who has replaced Arik Loegen. Joel's brand of unique logic is unparalleled in MMA circles.
The testy fight between Kyle and Frost reveals opposing personality types. Kyle, the kinder of the two, battles through not having a killer instinct, while Frost wastes no time in displaying her dominant tendencies. This installment offers fans a snapshot of how future events will play out.
Follow along as Chloe 'Ladykillah' Cameron and Kris 'The Raven' Blackwell prepare to tangle at LFC 20: A Midsummer Night's Dream. Seen in the background, at the weigh-in and posing for pictures, are future stars of the league: Jolene 'The Valkyrie' Hexx, Lauren 'The Animal' Fogle, and Cali Cat. Cameron does not hide her attraction to Fogle and later flirts with NLAC Commissioner, Lizzie Hunter. The commissioner is here to tell us of the new rules change: striking to the face while in stand-up is now disallowed.
Chloe is competitive in her match and comes out so motivated that she disregards the new rule change. Kris, who is a no non-sense fighter in the ring, proves too much for the feisty Cameron. A rear naked choke leaves Chloe sprawled face-down on the mat and unconscious. The sight of her misfortune might be too much for some viewers who may find it disturbing.
This episode is a three-match recap of LFC 20: A Midsummer Night's Dream. All three fights sizzle with action and each outcome is uncertain throughout. We start with the first match of the night, Teri 'Feisty Fists' London vs. Lauren 'The Animal' Fogle. The pace is quick here, as both fighters exhaust themselves early. Lauren works hard to earn a submission, but she unfortunately maneuvers herself into an arm bar she cannot escape from. In spite of her impassioned protests that she was not submitting, Lauren leaves the ring on the losing end.
The second match is between two fighters we knew were going to show contempt for each other: Sheila 'Crash' Cardinal vs. Shelly 'Aphrodite' DaSilva. The aggression towards each other is non-stop and attempts to submit the other are plenty; the hostility continues into the breaks and is just as exciting as the fight itself. The judges favor Cardinal in a unanimous decision win. The third recap pits MaiNe 'Main Event' Morgan and Holly 'The Lotus' Mei. Morgan's abundance of LFC experience proves too much for a courageous Mei. Holly loses via knee bar in the first round.
In this episode we bring you the buildup to LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice. There is drama, resentment, and anger that plays throughout much of this episode. Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden and Jolene 'The Valkyrie' Hexx, who fought at LFC 20: A Midsummer Night's Dream, had serious issues on the ride into the host city of Nice, California. Both women were very close to starting an unsanctioned rematch that led to them being separated.
This installment also marks the debut of Maxine 'The Boss' Frost as the league's new Prez. Her first order of business is to needle Joel Kane and to take Leon Hater from the Pink team, inserting him as the new head coach of the Black team. His arrival encounters genuine hostility from the Black team members, who collectively disregard his ability to coach them going forward. Always the professional, Leon makes it clear that he is in charge now.
Continuing with the lead-up to LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice, this episode focuses on the lighter side of MMA. As part of the promotion, four of the women go out on a bar crawl to get the word out about the event. Watch as Lauren 'The Animal' Fogle takes over the actual bar and uses it as a stage to show-off her seductive nature. Her fellow bar crawlers mingle with the patrons and excitedly introduce them to the LFC.
Former Olympian and new addition to the LFC, Andreea 'The Storm' Vladoi, mistakes her coach, Leon Hater, for a guest services employee. Andreea is not happy with her room and has a long list of complaints. Leon, viewing her in the light of an ex-wife, does his best to calm her down and suggests she concentrate on her opponent, Jolene 'The Valkyrie' Hexx. As Andreea is requesting that light bulbs be replaced, Hexx is out channeling her inner warrior while preparing for her match against 'The Storm'.
The issue of wardrobe malfunctions is also worked into the show, as we try to show fans the behind the scenes discussions that take place. Maxine 'The Boss' Frost confronts an unreceptive Shelly Dasilva about avoiding such mishaps. Shelly, being Shelly, is not going to listen to anyone other than her own inner diva.
Join us as we continue to set the stage for LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice. Cali Cat and Serina 'Honey Punch' Kyle meet poolside to discuss the rigors of training and to talk about their injuries. Kyle is still recovering from a knee injury and Cali has issues with an ankle. Cali points out that opponents are always looking to go after a weakness to gain an advantage. Later, at the same pool, Joel Kane has his first of many splash downs when Natasha 'Rattlesnake' Rodriguez, feeling slighted by her coach, pulls him into the water as retribution.
The official weigh-in, conducted by ring announcer A.J. Kirsch, is playful, aggressive, and includes a fan hoisting Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden's title belt. There is an odd mixture of dislike and subtle chemistry between Cali Cat and Lauren 'The Animal' Fogle. Just how much Shelly 'Aphrodite' DaSilva had to drink is anyone's guess, but she definitely drew attention to her altered condition.
Making her first appearance for the LFC is Roxy 'Roundhouse' Michaels. Roxy wisely asks Shelia Cardinal for advice on dealing with her opponent, DaSilva. Cardinal, who defeated DaSilva at the previous event, gives Roxy invaluable insight on how to tame the tempest that is Dasilva.
Joel gets thrown in a pool by: Natasha 'Rattlesnake' Rodriguez
LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice, arrives in this episode. We learn that, as part of his contract, Joel Kane will lose his job if his team goes winless. The black team coaches find this out from Joel's most significant detractor, The Prez, Maxine 'The Boss' Frost. Maxine is doing her best to orchestrate Joel's demise. A short time before the fighting begins, Maxine gives different pep talks to the teams. She tells the Pink Team, Joel's team, to fight clean and to listen to their coach. The black team members hear the opposite: they can fight dirty to destroy the pink team. Will Maxine's strategy pay off?
The featured match has Holly 'The Lotus' Mei taking on first timer, Audrey 'The Mongoose' Monique. Audrey trash talks and mocks Holly for her small stature. The match moves quickly, and once on the ground, Holly, in half-guard, unfairly unties Audrey's shorts/bottoms. Audrey is given time to reset, but Holly charges at her and pins 'The Mongoose' up against the cage. Audrey absorbs punishment before finding herself in a standing choke. 'The Lotus' takes advantage and leaves the taller fighter limp and unconscious. There is some question on if Holly won by using dirty tactics
Natasha 'Rattlesnake' Rodriguez, the first ever draft pick, finds herself in the midst of wardrobe malfunctions and frustration from fighting a larger opponent in Jesse Santos. Rodriguez shows us that her inclusion into the league makes sense. Battling a more experienced fighter is usually a one-sided deal, but Natasha shows determination and lasts the three rounds in a loss. One judge even favored the 'Rattlesnake'.
The recap of LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice continues with an intriguing match-up. Serina 'Honey Punch' Kyle takes on the second draft pick ever, Danielle St Pierre. Serina, who gets accused of being soft in the ring, is ready to prove her doubters wrong; however, St. Pierre is more polished than the average first timer. Kyle works hard, overcoming past mistakes, and sets up a terrific armbar. But will it be enough for the win?
Three fights from LFC 21: Naughty 'n Nice make it into this episode. Even our casual fans will notice that the interplay between Cali Cat and Lauren 'The Animal' Fogle is both personal and real. They finally meet up after trash talking each other for some time. Cali, the bigger fighter, has an ankle injury that Lauren cannot resist attacking. This strategy backfires on Lauren, and she finds herself trapped in a submission hold that makes her scream from the pain. Does the referee make the right call?
The second match is a grind it out battle of wills between Shelly 'Aphrodite' DaSilva and Roxy 'Roundhouse' Michaels who is making her LFC debut. Michaels is fearless against a volatile opponent who is capable of exploding without provocation. This one is very tough to score, but Roxy takes it in a controversial split decision win.
For the third fight, we present MaiNe 'Main Event' Morgan vs. Sheila 'Crash' Cardinal. Both fighters bring plenty of experience into the cage. For Morgan, a possible title shot is on the line. The larger woman, Cardinal, is able to assert herself early; her size is a difference maker. MaiNe has other ideas and patiently seizes on an opening when it arrives. A creative triangle choke with her legs saves the day for Morgan. Watch as Cardinal taps out while standing.
We close the first season of 'Exposed' with two feature matches. The first pits Krav Maga against Wushu, or Jolene 'The Valkyrie' Hexx vs. Andreea 'The Storm' Vladoi. Both fighters answer the bell and stay in a battle zone for all three rounds. This stellar match-up has much of what a fan might wish for: there are many submission attempts and the high intensity tests their wills. This contest ends in a draw. The Prez wanted to add another round to resolve it, but the rules prohibited her from doing so. The vocal dismay of those in attendance was strong.
The finale has Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden taking on Allie 'Babydoll' Parks. Hadden has definitely upped her swagger game. She is dismissive of Parks in so many ways and toys with her, especially in the first round. The second round sees Parks try to get the match on track, but she is hopelessly stopped because of unanswered blows.
The night ends on a positive note when rivalries subside, if only momentarily, and both teams go out dancing. The skills that they have in the ring undoubtedly translate to the dance floor. Watch as they unwind and blow off steam. Keep and eye out for Serina 'Honey Punch' Kyle doing the 'Worm' dance.
