This week’s featured fighter is Shay Mazzato [0-0]. Mazzato came to the LFC with an impressive 15-3 record and was immediately thrust into the fire in her LFC22 [0-0] debut against the ultimate LFC Champion Feather Hadden [0-0]. Hadden successfully defended her title but paid a helluva price – when it was all over she had suffered a broken nose, broken foot and concussion at the hands of Mazzato. This earned Mazzato a 2nd straight title bout at LFC23 [0-0] in Kansas City versus Monica Garcia [0-0] for the now vacant LFC title.

Once again Mazzato gave it her all but came up just short, losing a split decision to Garcia who enjoyed a 43 pound weight advantage. Mazzato returned to action at LFC25 [0-0] where she was once again at a huge weight disadvantage, 33lbs this time to Jessie Santos [0-0]. Mazzato showed amazing character as Santos threw her around the cage like a rag doll but Mazzato kept coming back for more but unfortunately lost by judge’s decision.

After sitting out the first two events this year, Mazzato returned on very short notice for a rematch with Monica Garcia [0-0] at LFC28 [0-0]. Once again the two were fighting for the vacant LFC title after Roxy Michaels [0-0] was stripped of the belt. After another hard fought battle that saw Mazzato thrown clean out of the ring Mazzato finally earned a win in the LFC and had the belt she had long coveted. Unfortunately she only kept it 25 hours (a MMA record she would rather not own) as she lost to Andreea Vladoi [0-0] the very next night at LFC29 [0-0].
