This week’s featured fighter is Shay 'The Fox' Mazzato (16-8). Mazzato came to the LFC with an impressive 15-3 record and was immediately thrust into the fire in her LFC 22: Costume Brawl debut against the ultimate LFC Champion Feather 'The Hammer' Hadden (21-1). Hadden successfully defended her title but paid a helluva price – when it was all over she had suffered a broken nose, broken foot and concussion at the hands of Mazzato. This earned Mazzato a 2nd straight title bout at LFC 23: Guilty Pleasures in Kansas City versus Monica 'Flowerbomb' Garcia (16-5) for the now vacant LFC title.
Once again Mazzato gave it her all but came up just short, losing a split decision to Garcia who enjoyed a 43 pound weight advantage. Mazzato returned to action at LFC 25: Showdown At Sam's Town where she was once again at a huge weight disadvantage, 33lbs this time to Jessie 'El Toro' Santos (12-4). Mazzato showed amazing character as Santos threw her around the cage like a rag doll but Mazzato kept coming back for more but unfortunately lost by judge’s decision.
After sitting out the first two events this year, Mazzato returned on very short notice for a rematch with Monica 'Flowerbomb' Garcia (16-5) at LFC 28: Sindependence Day. Once again the two were fighting for the vacant LFC title after Roxy 'Roundhouse' Michaels (10-3) was stripped of the belt. After another hard fought battle that saw Mazzato thrown clean out of the ring Mazzato finally earned a win in the LFC and had the belt she had long coveted. Unfortunately she only kept it 25 hours (a MMA record she would rather not own) as she lost to Andreea 'The Storm' Vladoi (13-4-1) the very next night at LFC 29: A Hot Midsummer Night's Dream.
